Vớt rau mồng tơi, để ráo, cắt lá làm 2-3. Mướp bổ đôi và xắt lát cỡ vừa.
Giã phần đầu hành trắng hơi dập, phần lá cắt khúc ngắn.
Đặt nồi lên bếp, phi thơm đầu hành trắng.
Sau đó, cho mướp và rau mồng tơi vào đảo nhanh, cho tiếp gia vị vào để ngấm khoảng 1 phút.
Tiếp tục cho nước sôi vào (lượng nước vừa xăm xắp rau). Khi nồi canh sôi lên là tắt bếp ngay. Cho vào ngò rí, hành lá, 1/3 muỗng cà phê muối, 1/3 muỗng cà phê đường, 1/3 muỗng cà phê bột ngọt, 1 muỗng canh hạt nêm chay, khuấy đều cho tan gia vị.
Múc ra tô dùng nóng. Đơn giản ngon ngọt, thanh mát hương vị của rau trái vườn nhà.
